| BNFS95 is an application which runs in a Windows 95 DOS console and
provides the full command set provided by the proprietary BayRS flash
card file system - the same commands accessible through the TI on a
BayRS router console. |
| I did find that I could get 16 linear flash cards from Simpletech.
Simpletech makes a 32 megabyte card, which they claim specifically works in
Catalyst Suisor III. So far, for me, it doesnt. Im not a bone-head
trying to run a router image on a Cat switch. If I could format the cards
in a router and tftp cat5000-sup3cv.6-4-2.bin to the card, then move the
card to a Cat and have it work, Id do that. Unfortunately, the 3640 thinks
the linear flash is write protected with the switch in either position, and
wont format the card (though it does correctly state the capacity of the
card). End of experiment. |
| The BNFS95 application operates as a PCMCIA CardServices Memory Client
Application and relies on the CardServives API provided by the operating
system. To support multiple vendors flash cards the utility relies on a
generic sub-driver known as an Memory Technology Driver(MTD) which
provides the low level routines for accessing memory on the flash
card. These MTDs are typically provided by the operating system and will
load automatically when the flash card is inserted. If an MTD is not
available for a particular vendors card then BNFS95 will run in a
limited read-only mode. In this mode no writing or erase operations can
be performed on the flash card |
| Flash Card v1.2 is a program that allows students to turn their study
notes into flash cards. While studying for a test, the student types
terms and definitions in the program which saves them in a database.
The student can review these flash cards in a random order at any time,
then he or she can go back and add more. While reviewing the flash
cards, the student has the option of having either the term or the
definition showing, basically doubling the amount of flash cards that
have been created. Multiple installations are possible on a single
machine, so students can have separate flash cards for each class.
Since students can add new flash cards to the database at any time,
Flash Card is well suited to cumulative finals. However, there is the
option of erasing all entries in the database if this is more
appropriate to the task at hand. |
| Texas Intstruments-1131 CardBus controller Laptops do not work with
Intel flash cards. The problem is believed to be an incompatibility
between Win9x MTDs and the CardBus controller. Intel has been contacted
and is working on a solution. |
